Creative Media Challenge 2011

THE PROJECT:
The RTA Creative Media Challenge is an 80-hour competition for current RTA students to produce an innovative short piece based on contest parameters under tight time restraints.

THE GOAL:
The primary objective of this project is to bring together RTA students from all years, to work collectively in both the creative and production process.

TIMELINE:

  • Sept 16th: Registration deadline for all teams (10 team maximum).
  • Sept 22rd: Teams meet at 10am to receive genre choices and required elements.
  • Sept 23th: Competition begins at 6pm with gear pickup.
  • Sept 25th: Competition ends at 6pm with gear return and production submission.
  • Sept 26th: Productions made available to view online.
  • Oct 3rd: Judging process begins.
  • Oct 24th: Screening event. Contest winners announced.

THE PRODUCTIONS:
Each team will be required to produce a piece between 3-5 minutes in length. All completed productions will be uploaded online (as well as submitted to event organizers) by 6pm on the final day of the contest for public voting. These votes, coupled with the decision of a panel of independent judges, will determine the Grand Prize winner and ranking order of the top three teams.

THE EVENT:
The competition will also include a screening. This event is designed to give each team a chance to show their work and will serve as the platform to introduce the judging panel and announce the contest winners.
